AMIGA UPGRADE PROCEDURES

AMIGA 500 8372 AGNUS ONE MEGABYTE CHIP RAM UPGRADE
This procedure requires that you have the A501 512K upgrade RAM/RTC card installed.
AdRAM and BaseBoard users should not use these procedures.

FOR AMIGA 500 MOTHERBOARD REVISION 6A:
Locate jumper pad JP2 near the KickStart ROM (U6).
The middle and upper pads of jumper pad JP2 should be connected and the trace that connects the middle and lower pads should be disconnected.
Locate jumper pad JP7A next to the connector CNX (the A501 memory expansion port). Disconnect the trace between the middle and lower pads. Do not connect the middle and upper pads.

FOR AMIGA 500 MOTHERBOARD REVISION 4 & 5:
Locate jumper pad JP2 near the KickStart ROM at location U6 on the Amiga 500 motherboard. (Figure 1A).
The middle and upper pads of jumper pad JP2 should be connected and the trace that connects the middle and lower pads should be disconnected.
Remove the Gary chip and slightly, carefully bend pin 32 out.
Reinstall Gary back into its socket not allowing pin 32 to enter the socket (Figure 1B).
Pin 32 of Gary should not be broken off.

AMIGA 500 / 2000 2.04 / 3.1 KICKSTART ROM UPGRADE
FOR AMIGA 500 MOTHERBOARD REVISION 6A:
No ROM chip jumper is required. Simply replace the old ROM chip with the new ROM chip.

FOR AMIGA 500 MOTHERBOARD REVISION 5 & AMIGA 2000 MOTHERBOARD REVISIONS 3.X:
You must install a jumper on the ROM chip. Install a jumper from pin 1 to pin 31. Make sure all ROM chip pins are in their socket.

AMIGA 2000 SECOND INTERNAL DISK DRIVE UPGRADE
First mount the second internal disk drive inside the Amiga 2000 in the same manner that the original, first disk drive is. Connect an available floppy disk drive power connector to the floppy disk drive. Connect the available floppy disk drive ribbon cable connector to the newly mounted second floppy disk drive. In order for the second disk drive to become available to the AmigaDOS operating system you must close a jumper on the Amiga 2000 motherboard. Locate jumper J301 near the disk drive ribbon cable connection on the Amiga 2000 motherboard. Jumper J301 must be closed to use a second internal floppy disk drive (this jumper should be open if you only have one internal floppy disk drive). Leaving jumper J301 open prevents the Amiga from seeing a second internal floppy disk drive. With J301 closed and all connections made, the second internal disk drive should now be operational.

AMIGA 2000 LIGHT PEN PORT SELECT
By default, an Amiga light pen must be used with mouse/game control port one. To allow an Amiga light pen to work with game control port two you must set jumper J200 on the Amiga 2000 motherboard. Jumper J200 is used to set the light pen port number. In the factory default position (jumper pin one and two connected), the light pen will work only in mouse/game control port one. Set jumper J200 to the other position (jumper pin two and three connected) and the light pen will work in game controller port two only.
